Different language courses in different levels are arranged for several times during the year.  You can find more information about language courses at the “Courses” section.

Language courses are consist of five stages: A1 and A2 (beginner), B1 and B2 (intermediate), and C1 (advanced). Course levels are determined according to European Language Portfolio. A placement test is applied to the new students who register for the courses and these students are placed to the appropriate levels according to the results of this exam. A curriculum which supports intercultural communication and improves the four basic language skills; listening, reading, speaking and writing is implemented in DEDAM.

Lesson materials, developed by DEDAM instructors within the framework of projects are used in the courses of teaching Turkish to foreigners. Materials for A1 and A2 levels are set as a course book with the title of ‘İzmir Yabancılar için Türkçe’.

In addition to the lessons; there are excursions, movie shows, group reading and interpretation activities in order to get acquainted with Turkish culture for the students.

The students participated in these courses can certify that they attended the course. All prospering participants will be given a certificate provided by DEDAM which is valid in all TR and EU universities (Erasmus Associates) .

In addition to general language courses, lessons and test practice events are held for YDS and proficiency exams.

Courses may be organized for the other languages on-demand.

For each language, it is possible to pre-register online by filling up an application form under the title ‘Courses’. If you want us to send a notification mail for course programmes every term, please write that you want a notification mail, also your language of interest and send an e-mail via dedam@deu.edu.tr.

*All applicants should pre-register at  dedam.deu.edu.tr  for  free.

*For full registration, it is necessary to be present in DEDAM on the beginning date and time of the course and fill up the full registration form.

* If you decide not to attend the course after filling in the pre-registration form, please call DEDAM at 0 232 463 02 67 or inform us by sending an e-mail to dedam@deu.edu.tr at least 3 days in advance.

* Courses will begin with 10 students at least.

* Discount is available for all students, the DEU staff and groups of ten people.

*A placement tests are held in our center for the speaking course and general language courses.

* Extra fee will charged for the additional classroom materials (photocopies, etc.).

*It is possible to attend a course which has already started but the instructor of the classroom takes the decision and the student is responsible for all the previous topics. It is required for those who start the courses late, have to pay the entire course fee.

*It is also required for the students who have registered for a course but have not attended the lessons, have to pay the entire course fee.

*A verified DEU certificate will be given to all the attendees who have been successful in the exam of the general language courses. Certificates are recognized by CHE (The Council of Higher Education) and Erasmus associate universities.

*DEDAM is not responsible for the students who have problems related to accommodation. We can help to those who have serious problems concerning this issue but DEDAM does not take the responsibility.

·It is sufficient to fill up the application form linked to the chosen language for pre-registration.

·It is especially important that your contact information on the application form is correct because we are going to contact you using this information if the course is cancelled or delayed.

·You can contact us from dedam@deu.edu.tr for your further questions regarding the courses. Please do not fill up the pre-registration forms if you do not think of attending any course as the decision to open the courses depends on the pre-registration forms.

·We request you to inform DEDAM if you decide not to attend the course after pre-registration.

*If you do not have a passport, you can not register for the course.

*We are going to delete the student’s entry/ record if he/she is absent for more than 10 days and we are going to inform the police department’s foreigners office about this issue.

2. For Turkish students

Full registration is done on the first day of the course.

*Course fees will not be refunded if the students who have completed their full registration but not attended the course for several reasons.
